Freedom Awards Gala

This year Jacob and I were able to go to the annual Freedom Awards Gala as part of the Freedom Festival.
My SIL Caroline, who is the most thoughtful person, gave us tickets after I said I was dying to go.
Seriously, she rocks. A lot.

It was technically black tie, but you saw a little of everything.
(even a girl in khaki capris)
My BIL (on the other side of the fam) let me borrow one of the costumes from his school.
(he is a very talented drama teacher)

We sat at a table of Freedom Festival interns. Jacob was so worried that we would have to sit by a bunch of "old people." His words, not mine.
There was one couple that was really fun to talk to and we had a really good time.

For those who don't know, the Freedom Awards Gala celebrates people who have or are currently fighting for our freedoms and values. The one I was most excited about was Greg Mortenson. If you have not read his book Three Cups of Tea, run, don't walk, to the bookstore of library.
His book was so inspiring and his speech was as well.

After already meeting more than 100 people, he was still so gracious when we met him.
He asked our names and even suggested Jacob read the young reader's version of his book if he can't make it through the long version. Funny and amazing. Kills me.

The perfect way to start off the Fourth of July festivities.

  1. Your dress is absolutely gorgeous, as are you! How are things going with you guys? Are you still living in Provo?

  2. Holly! We are still in the area. Jacob has another year of school so we are just living the life until he is done. Then, who knows?
