Santa's Little Helper

I know it's been a while- I promise I'll be better. Finals are finally over so I can enjoy the Christmas season. And blog some more...

This was the first year that I got to actually be a part of being a secret santa. I've always wanted to but I never knew who to give to or how to get involved. We have a woman at work who cleans the building and mentioned that Christmas was going to be slim for their family this year.
She is honestly the most genuine person I have ever met. She is great!
Someone at work had the best idea to give them a great Christmas- and it turned out to be much better than we anticipated! Over $600 dollars in cash and lots of toys and other things were donated within the building. I could not believe how generous people were!

Tuesday night a bunch of us went to Walmart and had enough money to spend $50 on each kid with enough cash left over to give to the mom. After shopping, we came over to mine and Jacob's house to wrap the gifts. We had these huge gift bags that fit each of the gifts for the kids. The Wells Fargo employees didn't want to risk being spotted so our spouses delivered the gifts while we waited in the car.

So we drive up to her apartment and we weren't really sure which one was hers- as we were walking around trying to figure it out, she walked out of her house and got into her car. So our spouses tried to run the gifts to her door she before she left, but with 5 huge gift bags, some soda, and a huge frozen turkey- we barely missed her. Luckily her daughter was home and they were able to get the gifts.

The day after she talked to one of the bankers about someone who had left her some gifts and that she was so grateful! JOB WELL DONE!

It felt really good to be Santa's little helper. It really helps put this season in perspective. While I love getting gifts for my family members and friends, I loved making someone's Christmas better.

Happy Holidays!

  1. That's so awesome! Good for you. You've told me about that lady and that's awesome that you got to help her out... especially after she helped you clean up all that soap that you dropped all over the floor that one time... Ha ha, I miss you, but I'll be home soon!
